Wednesday brought good news for employees of food delivery partner- Swiggy: The Moonlighting policy. First ever kind of policy under which full-time employees of the firm will be allowed to work on second jobs, under certain conditions.
“Be it volunteering with an NGO, working as a dance instructor, or content creation for social media, Swiggy firmly believes that working on such projects outside of one’s full-time employment can significantly contribute to both professional and personal development of an individual,” the release read.
It further mentioned that the activities should be such that does not impact the productivity of the full-time job or reflect a conflict of interest with Swiggy’s business in any way. The external projects can be taken up for pro-bono or economic consideration based on internal approvals.
According to officials at the food delivery platform, the lockdown in the country has made a significant portion of people explore and create new ways of income adapting new skills and polishing their existing talents.
The Moonlighting policy will also furnish prescribe strict guidelines for employees as the company cannot afford inefficiency from its employees. A full-time employee of Bundl Technologies, the parent company that runs the Swiggy app and its subsidiaries, affiliates, associates and group companies all fall under the eligible category.
“With the Moonlighting Policy, our goal is to encourage employees to pursue their passion without any constraints due to their full-time employment with us. This is yet another step in our journey towards building a world-class’ people first’ organization,” Head of Human Resources at Swiggy Girish Menon said according to the release.
After a majority of its managers and team heads vouched for increased productivity in the WFH format, the food chain announced a permanent work-from-anywhere policy for the majority of its roles.
