Leh: Ambareesh Murty, the co-founder of online furniture retailer Pepperfry, died of a cardiac arrest on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. 42 years old Murty was in Leh when he suffered a fatal cardiac attack.
Murty was born in Bengaluru, India, in 1981. He studied engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and then went on to work for McKinsey & Company. In 2007, he co-founded Pepperfry with his friend and classmate Ashish Shah.
Pepperfry quickly became one of India’s leading online furniture retailers. The company’s success was due in part to Murthy’s vision and leadership. He was known for his passion for design and his commitment to customer service.
Murthy was also a strong advocate for the Indian startup ecosystem. He was a mentor to many young entrepreneurs and he served on the board of directors of several startups.
Murthy’s death is a great loss to the Indian startup community and to the country as a whole. He was a brilliant entrepreneur and a visionary leader. He will be remembered for his contributions to the Indian economy and for his passion for making a difference in the world.
