Noida: Rigging of Supertech’s illegal twin towers in Noida has been completed with around 3,700 kgs of explosives for their scheduled demolition. The Twin Towers, which are taller than Delhi’s Qutub Minar will become India’s highest structures ever to be demolished on August 28.

The buildings measuring a little over 100 meters will literally collapse like a house of cards within 15 seconds, according to the project officials. The demolition would be done through a controlled implosion technique for which explosives have been planted, leaving a whopping 55000 tonnes of debris to be managed.

Almost 60 percent of the work on protecting the gas pipeline has been completed and rest will be completed till D-day. On the day of demolition, no residents of adjoining societies shall be allowed to remain in the area between 9 AM to 6 PM. The authorities are taking all possible measures to ensure the safety of nearby residents. An evacuation plan has been designed, around 5000 people living in 1,396 flats of two societies here will be moved to safer locations during the demotion.

The Twin Towers were ordered to be demolished as they were violating the building by-laws. Last year, the top court ordered the demolition of the towers under construction within three months of violating the laws.
