VARANASI: The upcoming Mahakumbh 2025 will introduce an exciting new experience—floating houses on the Ganga and Yamuna rivers. Designed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model by a Varanasi-based company, these floating houses can accommodate between 40 to 100 people and aim to enhance the convenience and comfort of pilgrims.

The floating houses, equipped with motors, will be stationed at prominent ghats such as Saraswati, Qila, and Arail. From there, they will ferry devotees to the holy Sangam. The mid-section of these floating structures features a designated bathing area, allowing visitors to bathe directly in the river before returning to air-conditioned rooms to change clothes. Additionally, the houses will provide tea and snacks.

For the first time in the history of the Mahakumbh 2025, this innovation aims to address the privacy concerns of tourists who prefer to avoid crowded public areas. With luxurious interiors and modern amenities, this is Uttar Pradesh’s first-ever floating house initiative. A nominal fee of ₹1,200 per person has been set for this unique experience.

Meanwhile, those interested in setting up temporary shops at the Mahakumbh Mela site can apply until January 4. Applicants must submit copies of their Aadhaar card, PAN card, and driving license. A registration fee of ₹5,000 will be required at the time of application.
