The curious case of Indian women who balance work and personal life has been much enthralling. From sustainability to significance Indian women have set a benchmark in history. Empowered in every step, they bring sovereignty with poise. Our women have been slaying in every industry with much aplomb and have never been so independent in India’s history.

In new India, young female entrepreneurs have been navigating uncharted territories and turning innovative ideas into successful businesses. Not only are they quashing the patriarchy but setting examples for a countless young girl of the country.

This International Women’s Day, we honour the successful women entrepreneurs who formed the face of their brands.

Aditi Gupta– the co-founder of Menstrupedia, took up the challenge to bust the myths and misinformation that surrounded menstruation in 2012. In 2014, she was listed on the Forbes India 30 under 30 list for her work towards demystifying the taboo. Menstrupedia today has reached 6,000 schools and benefitted more than 14,000 girls with their prints in 14 different languages.

Pandemic digitized education, but it was much earlier that the Indian education system had its digital platform for study. Co-founded by Divya, Byjus– is the world’s most valuable ed-tech startup. It offers learning through an app and website for competitive exams. Their flagship product- an app for classes 4 and 5 was launched in 2015. Divya Gokulnath was featured as one of Linkedin’s top voices in 2019.

Be any age, Indian women are tough competition for everyone. One example in Falguni Nayar- Founder of Nykaaan online beauty store. Equipped with 25 years of experience and a grandly successful career in financial services, she took the leap to launch Nykaa.com. She was titled the “most powerful business’ by Business Today and was conferred with the Women Ahead accolade at Economic Times. Nykaa has entered the unicorn club with its fresh Rs 100 crore funding.

Another lady that one could celebrate is Richa Kar- the co-founder and CEO of Zivame, the first conceptualized lingerie online store. Her desire and experience of shyness during lingerie shopping led to the birth of Zivame. She is one of the women entrepreneurs in India who has truly revolutionized the essential needs of a woman.

This year, the world celebrates IWD themed ‘ Gender Equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’. The campaign for the theme of the day read- #BreakTheBias.
