Sriharikota: India’s third lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, has shared fresh images of the moon. The images were posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today.

“Chandrayaan-3 Mission: viewed by Lander Imager (LI) camera on the day of the launch and imaged by Lander Horizontal Velocity Camera (LHVC) a day after the lunar orbit insertion”, tweeted ISRO.

The images show the moon’s cratered surface and its bright maria, or plains. They were taken by Chandrayaan-3’s onboard camera after the spacecraft entered lunar orbit on Saturday.

Isro said that the images are “a testament to the success of Chandrayaan-3’s lunar orbit insertion manoeuvre.” The spacecraft is now in a stable orbit around the moon and is preparing for its landing attempt on August 23.

Chandrayaan-3 is India’s most ambitious lunar mission to date. It aims to soft-land a lander and rover on the moon’s south pole, which has never been explored before.

The mission is expected to make significant scientific discoveries about the moon’s formation and evolution. It will also help India to develop its own capabilities in space exploration.

The images of the moon shared by Chandrayaan-3 are a welcome sight for Indian space enthusiasts. They are a sign that the mission is going well and that India is on track to make history with its first soft landing on the moon’s south pole.

In addition to the images of the moon, Isro also released a video of Chandrayaan-3’s lunar orbit insertion manoeuvre. The video shows the spacecraft firing its engines to enter orbit around the moon.

The successful lunar orbit insertion is a major milestone for Chandrayaan-3. It means that the spacecraft is now in a stable position and can begin its preparations for the landing attempt on August 23.

Chandrayaan-3 is a complex mission, but it is also a very important one. It has the potential to make significant scientific discoveries and to help India to become a major player in space exploration.

The images and video released by Isro are a sign that the mission is going well and that India is on track to achieve its goals. I am excited to see what Chandrayaan-3 will accomplish in the coming weeks and months.thumb_upthumb_downtuneshareGoogle itmore_vertadd_circle
