Nearly two months after an explosion sent flaming debris raining down on the Turks and Caicos, SpaceX launched another mammoth Starship rocket on Thursday, but lost contact minutes into the test flight as the spacecraft came tumbling down and broke apart.

“With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today’s flight will help us improve Starship’s reliability. We will conduct a thorough investigation, in coordination with the FAA, and implement corrective actions to make improvements on future Starship flight tests”, wrote on X.

SpaceX has stated that the Super Heavy booster worked effectively during the test. Therefore, this mission cannot be considered a complete failure. This mission has helped in collecting important data. It is noteworthy that SpaceX launched this mission from the Boca Chica launch pad in Texas. After the launch, the booster rocket was separated and dropped into the sea as per the scheduled plan, so a part of the mission can be considered successful.

SpaceX informed that suddenly some technical problem arose in the rocket, due to which the contact was lost. After this, the team tried to secure it with the help of security officials. The company also said that the data of this flight test will be analyzed and important lessons will be learned from this failure. Two months ago also a test of Starship was done, which was unsuccessful.

When the mission was tested for the first time, the rocket launched successfully as planned. The 403 feet (123 meters) high rocket was launched before sunset, and NASA focused intensely on this mission. SpaceX has already booked to send humans to the moon. Earlier, Starship had launched four mock satellites, and in the previous test, SpaceX’s rocket returned successfully, with no damage. Investigation has revealed that the cause of the fire in the sky may be a fuel leak, which causes the spacecraft’s engine to shut down.
