New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to discuss the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) for good. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi as he shared insights from the meeting.
“Thank you for the insightful conversation. the potential for AI in enhancing India’s tech ecosystem is indeed vast and that too among the youth in particular. We welcome all collaborations that can accelerate our digital transformation for empowering our citizens”, tweeted PM Modi.
Altman, who is on a tour of India and other Asian countries, said that he was impressed by India’s commitment to using AI for social good. He said that OpenAI was looking to partner with Indian companies and organizations to develop AI solutions for a variety of challenges, including poverty, healthcare, and education.
Modi said that India was open to working with OpenAI and other global technology companies to develop AI for the benefit of humanity. He said that AI had the potential to transform India’s economy and society, and that the government was committed to creating an enabling environment for AI innovation.
The meeting between Modi and Altman comes at a time when there is growing debate about the potential risks of AI. Some experts have warned that AI could lead to mass unemployment, job displacement, and even war. However, Altman said that OpenAI was committed to developing AI that was safe, ethical, and beneficial to society.
“We believe that AI can be a powerful force for good,” Altman said. “We want to work with India to develop AI solutions that can help solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.”
