In the last couple of days, Vadodara of Gujarat has been hit very badly by heavy rain, and water logging has flooded the city to an extent that resembles a flood. Under the guidelines of the India Meteorological Department (IMA), a Red warning has been given to Gujarat, where it has been predicted that different parts of the state will experience heavy rainfall till August 30.

Vadodara received as much as 26 cm of rainfall on Monday, which the IMD recorded. These constant rains led to a lot of flooding and were a hindrance to the normal flow of activities, especially causing traffic jams in different parts of the city.

The situation in Vadodara became aggravated due to the flood situation as the Vishwamitri River flooded and caused very much water to be logged in the residential areas. It was reported by the news agencies that the residents had to navigate in knee-deep water as streets and roads flooded. The position worsened when the water from Ajwa and Pratappura Reservoirs was let into the Vishwamitri River, making the condition worse by flooding the tough city.

This is the testimony of one of the residents as he explained the terrible situation: “From Monday evening water has been coming into houses in the low-lying areas; people are being evacuated to higher grounds; there is even a scarcity of food and conditions are getting worse.”

The amount of rainfall also claimed the Kashi Vishwanath Mahadev Temple complex in Vadodara, where temple premises ceased operations on Tuesday. Some of the current crises in Gujarat, which are being flooded, are due to a deep depression that is moving from eastern Rajasthan to the Saurashtra region. Due to the water spewing over from the flood, IMD has put a red alert on it, which has resulted in hundreds of people losing their shelter and walking all over.

For example, due to floods in Vadodara, more than a thousand people were forced to leave the area. In particular, many of the inhabitants were helped by the Indian Air Force, which supplied a lot of essential goods to the city. Efforts are on by different Indian agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force, etc to rescue and provide relief to people in Gujarat.
