Lucknow: On Tuesday at 9:30 AM, a meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the chair will be held. The meeting is said to pass a record ₹30000 crore supplementary demand for the all-round development of the state. This supplementary budget will be delivered to the legislative assembly and council today. The priorities of the budget are the finances required for the Kumbh Mela, industrial projects, new buses, and old, weak bridges to be replaced with new ones.
Recalling that the monsoon session of the legislature has started on Monday. But here, some of the disturbances were also noted at the beginning of the session. The Assembly session on the first day could not proceed smoothly due to a protest carried out by the Samajwadi Party (SP). It launched controversies regarding electricity scarcity, floods that affected the state, the situation that affected crop production, indicating drought, and the issues of law and order. Some SP members then seized the dome of the well of the Assembly and started raising anti-CPM slogans, actually causing a breach of peace and tranquility in the House.
The proposed supplementary budget is one of the ways through which the Yogi government can solve various infrastructural and developmental issues. The budget under it deals with the pragmatic and architectural needs of the Kumbh Mela, which is one of the largest pilgrimage fairs. Expenditure in industrial ventures is generally targeted to work towards the enhancement of the economic growth of a country and also to provide employment. Also, better public transport will be provided in the budget through the purchase of more buses and also better transport infrastructure by replacing some old bridges.
Thus, while focusing on the further work of the legislative session, it will be important to see how the government states its approaches to the problems pointed out by the opposition, as well as the provision of the proposed budgeting. The disturbances on the first day of the new law demonstrate a turbulent environment within which the government operates, especially when enacting new legislation.
