Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath further accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of bad-mouthing UP and Ayodhya after the Rae Bareli MP commented that the massacre of ‘pigeons’ in the city was a reflection of the state’s culture. Yogi Adityanath vehemently defended himself about the capabilities that had set the alleged disarray in Parliament right when Rahul Gandhi alleged that people displaced by the road-widening project in Ayodhya had not gotten any compensation.
Rejecting these allegations, Adityanath said that the Uttar Pradesh government has paid ₹1733 crore to the common victims as compensation. He stated that the compensation was total, affected persons invited by the government to sell their land, house or shop for the construction of Ram Path, Bhakti Path, Janmabhoomi Path, Ayodhya airport, etc.
The Chief Minister also countered Rahul Gandhi’s verbal attacks, which he levelled during the Lok Sabha elections, where he sought to mislead the general public by feeding them with false information. Yogi Adityanath charged that Gandhi had made false statements about the Constitution and used foreign money to interfere with the election.
Giving a historical complaint, Adityanath said that Rahul Gandhi and his supporters for generations did not allow the town of Ayodhya, which, in his opinion, had lost its natural essence. He blamed them for not allowing the people, keeping Ayodhya uncared and making the Saryu river turn red during the Karsevaks Poloing incident on 30th October 1990, during the reign of M. Delayam Singh Yadav.
Adityanath further acknowledged the state government’s measures toward the payment of the compensation for affectees of development projects at Ayodhya. He said that, for those who turned behind their demolished shops, the government built shops for them, and for those who did not claim new shops at the multilevel, it provided new shops for everyone. This, he pointed out, provided evidence of the government’s agenda to empower the local population through development.
These remarks of the Chief Minister were a part of the attempts made by the state to justify its acts and measures towards the constructional development of Ayodhya.
