On Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that Mustafabad, in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of the state, will be renamed Kabir Dham, saying that it was a step in his continuing process of reinforcing the cultural pride and heritage of the state. Addressing a rally, Adityanath claimed that the renaming goes in line with previous attempts like renaming Faizabad to Ayodhya and Allahabad to Prayagraj, which are aimed at reminding people about their spiritual and historical heritage.
Faizabad is currently Ayodhya, and Allahabad is now Prayagraj. It will once again turn into Kabir Dham, and this is not to take away anything but to restore the glory and identity of the sacred land, Adityanath said. He unveiled that when he heard that there were no Muslims living in Mustafabad, he wondered what the name of the place meant and resolved to begin with renaming. He added that he would send a proposal and initiate the formal process to change it to Kabir Dham.
The Chief Minister also stated that past governments concentrated on creating graveyard boundaries, but his government had a mission to restore temples, pilgrimage places, and spiritual places. As he gave homage to respected saints, he pointed out that state and central BJP governments were doing well in beautifying and conserving religious and cultural sites.
Adityanath also advised against divisive politics, saying that some anti-social elements and a few opposition parties were attempting to break the unity of the country in the name of secularism. These powers are to come between us on caste lines and to undermine faith. Unless we are able to identify these threats early enough, they would rip our society like cancer, he warned.
At the end of his speech, Adityanath referred to patriotism as the final solution to all problems and said, This is not only soil but a motherland. Serving it is true worship. Sanatan Dharma and our culture should be guarded against any kind of attack.
