Voting is underway on eight seats of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh from 7 am. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati have appealed to the voters to vote.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted on his X account that today is the first phase of the great festival of democracy. My appeal to all the voters is to vote for the continuous development journey of ‘New India’, to build ‘self-reliant India’ and ‘developed India’. Your one vote will make ‘India’ more powerful. So be careful. First voting, then refreshments. Jai Hind.
He further wrote that voting is the constitutional right of every eligible citizen. It is necessary to make every effort to ensure our effective participation in power by using this right with complete fearlessness. The Election Commission should also fully support the poor, the oppressed and the women in voting for free and fair elections.
In Uttar Pradesh, till 9 am a total of 12.66% voting took place. The highest turnout was from Saharanpur at 16.49%, while the lowest was from Rampur at 10.66%.
Voting on UP seats will continue till 6 pm. In the first phase, voting is taking place in Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina, Moradabad, Rampur and Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituencies. In the first phase, voting is going on on eight seats in 9 districts of Uttar Pradesh. There are 80 candidates in the fray for this.
PAC and paramilitary forces have been deployed in all eight seats. ‘India’ alliance has fielded SP candidate on seven out of eight seats and Congress candidate on one seat. Similarly, from NDA side, BJP has candidates on seven seats and RLD has candidates on one seat. BSP has fielded candidates on all eight seats.
