In a sad incident in Uttar Pradesh, three girls lost their lives, and their mother was seriously injured when a speeding truck ploughed into their roadside hut when they were asleep. In the Gahmar police station area, Kamakhya Dham temple, it was the tragic accident that took place soon after the introductory hours of the night, around 11 PM on Friday night.
Station House Officer (SHO) Ashish Nath Singh informed that the truck was on its way from Ghazipur to Bara when it veered off the road and crashed into the hut where the victims were sleeping. It has identified the three deceased children as Sapna Kumari (9), Kabootri (7) and Jwala (4). Santara Devi, the mother of the children, was seriously injured and is now undergoing treatment at a government hospital.
It was such a serious crash that the three girls were killed on the spot after they were crushed to death. The local community is in deep shock and mourning due to the tragedy because the family was poor and was living in the roadside shelter near the temple.
The police immediately recouped the truck used for the incident. The police were continuing with efforts to track down and arrest the driver who fled the scene after a crash. A post-mortem examination will determine the cause of death of the children.
Locals have demanded that the case be handed with strict action like that of the driver and better safety of roadside dwellers after the incident. A grieving family has been assured that there will be a thorough investigation and support.
Once again, these are dangers added to the families living in roadside shelters and the great need for better road safety and enforcement to avoid such horrible accidents.
