Lucknow: As the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 draw, parties like the BJP and Congress are ramping up their preparations. Amidst all this, there is turmoil within the INDIA Alliance regarding seat allocation. A major development has come from Uttar Pradesh, where the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) have finalized how they will distribute seats. Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, has agreed to give Jayant Chaudhary 7 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats for him to contest in the elections. This is a change as RLD had only won three seats in the 2019 elections.
Akhilesh Yadav himself made this announcement through a post on media sharing their alliance’s decision. The chief of SP wrote, “Congratulations to our alliance between National Lok Dal and SP! Let’s come together for victory!” Meanwhile, Jayant Chaudhary responded by expressing his commitment to upholding values and protecting interests. He said, “I am always dedicated to upholding our constitutional values. We hope that all members of our alliance step forward together and take measures for the development and prosperity of their regions.”
This agreement on seat sharing between SP and RLD demonstrates their collaboration to strengthen opposition against political competitors in the upcoming elections. However, it is worth mentioning that the process of determining seat sharing with the Congress is still ongoing.
This development underscores the dynamic nature of alliances and seat distributions as political parties gear up for the electoral battle, navigating through intricate negotiations and evolving alliances in the pursuit of victory. The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is witnessing significant shifts, setting the stage for a closely watched and fiercely contested Lok Sabha election in 2024.
