On Thursday, June 5, Ayodhya continues to attract the nation’s attention as it holds the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the newly built Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. Shree Ram’s installation and the placement of the idols of Mata Sita, Lord Lakshman and Lord Hanuman were ceremonially carried out on the first floor of the Ram Mandir. The very first Pran Pratishtha ceremony, which took place on January 22, 2024, was performed for the ‘baal roop’ (child form) of Lord Ram. In this celebration, the ritual marks the start of the reign of Raja Ram.

Anjaneya Sewa Trust is behind the three-day event, which started on June 3 and will end on June 5 with a main ritual ceremony at 11 AM. On this occasion, Yogi Adityanath, who is the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, will be the main guest and perform the first look of Lord Ram and Sita. The ceremony will begin with Vedic chants and a holy havan, and Shashikant Maharaj will guide the event as the head of Anjani Seva Sansthan.

Jaipur makers have crafted white marble idols, which will be seated on a marble throne two feet tall. Costume designer Manish Tiwari has made sure Raja Ram’s outfits feature zari, precious stones, embroidered apparel and jewelled crowns.

Only a certain number of people will be allowed up to the first floor where the idols are found to keep the sanctity. At the same time, extra security has been put in place in Ayodhya with personnel from CRPF, PAC and SSF on duty, allowing people to keep going for darshan as usual. On this special day, more than 62,000 boxes of prasad, such as Moongdal-Chickpea Barfi, are handed out as a blessing.
