Police have arrested three smugglers with cannabis worth Rs 50 crore. The accused were planning to send the consignment to Nepal in a luxury car. 88.50 kg cannabis has been recovered from the luxury car.
On Wednesday, on the information of Kolhui police informer, the police laid siege and arrested three accused with hashish in the car. Kolhui police station in-charge Inspector Dinesh said that information was received from the informer that some people were planning to send a huge consignment of cannabis to Nepal in a luxury car. After receiving this information, the police team along with them cordoned off the Kolhui intersection and searched for the vehicles. Meanwhile, a luxury car was seen, which was considered suspicious and the police team tried to stop the speeding car.
Superintendent of Police of Maharajganj district Atish Kumar Singh said investigation will be done on the basis of the luxury car and the number printed on it. Currently, during the police investigation, the parcels, which were meant to transport charas to Delhi via Nepal for Rs 20,000, have been seized.
Seeing the police team, the car riders started running away, who were caught after running some distance. After a thorough search of the car, 88.50 kg of cannabis was recovered from the car. Three accused in the car have also been arrested from the spot.
Among the arrested, two are residents of Gorakhpur district and one is a resident of Shahjahanpur district. Along with this, one vehicle, a Honda Ciaz, is registered to Lucknow and another vehicle, a Duster, is registered to an address in Ghaziabad. Police are getting information about the big owner and others. It should be noted that fodder is being smuggled from Nepal to various parts of India at a large rate. The price of 88 kg of Cannabis in the international market is estimated at 50 crore rupees.
