Ayodhya: The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is set to inaugurate the Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya on December 25, coinciding with the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The inauguration precedes the proposed consecration ceremony of the Shri Ram Temple in January 2024. The airport’s construction is progressing rapidly, with the first phase targeted for completion by December 15, 2023. The project includes a 2,200-meter runway, which will be extended to 3,750 meters in the future. The airport, spanning 821 acres, is divided into three phases, with the initial phase’s runway already completed.
The subsequent phases involve extending the runway, enhancing night landing facilities, and adding essential amenities. The airport is expected to facilitate landings for aircraft like Airbus A320, providing improved connectivity to the Ayodhya pilgrimage site. The licensing process is advancing, and once completed, the airport is scheduled to begin operations in the current calendar year. The airport’s authority has been entrusted with 821 acres of land for the project.
The strategic inspection of the construction was conducted by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with Union Minister VK Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
