Mathura.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences after the Yamuna River accident in Vrindavan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, and directed officials to expedite relief and rescue operations. He wished the injured a speedy recovery and directed the local administration to assist the affected. The Prime Minister has now announced compensation of ₹200,000 each to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 each to the injured.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the accident, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the boat capsize accident in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. My deepest condolences go out to those who lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. The local administration is providing assistance to those affected.

So far, 10 devotees have been confirmed dead in this accident. According to reports, a group of 30 people from Ludhiana, Punjab, had come to visit Banke Bihari. Meanwhile, a steamer collided with a pontoon bridge and capsized, drowning everyone in the river. Immediately after the accident, police and diving teams began rescue operations, rescuing several drowning victims. District administration officials are present at the scene. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Army have also arrived to provide assistance.

Meanwhile, Mathura Superintendent of Police (Rural), Suresh Chandra Rawat, stated that a boat capsized in the Yamuna River. Twenty-two people were rescued and immediately rushed to the hospital. A thorough investigation is underway. We are currently assessing the situation to determine how many people are safe and how many have tragically lost their lives. The pontoon bridge was in poor condition, so an agency was carrying out repairs on the pontoons. It is believed that the accident may have been caused by this ongoing repair work.
