Muskan Rastogi, the suspect in the murder of her husband Saurabh Rajput, said she wishes to study law while serving her time in jail. As reported, Rastogi has applied to officials at the Chaudhary Charan Singh District Jail in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, to study law so she can represent herself during future cases.
A source has said that Rastogi feels her legal team is not providing adequate support and has requested to argue her own defense. Still, the fact that Muskan did not go to school stops many people from recognizing her skills. Because Rastogi holds just a Class 8 certificate, he is not qualified to apply for a law program in India. At this time, the jail authorities are looking into what is needed for her to finish her senior secondary education. Only after that can she apply for a law degree, for instance, an LLB.
The officials pointed out that IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) has programs for inmates that can be done by correspondence, so if Rastogi meets the educational requirements, she could take part in these courses. Sharing with The Times of India, Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma noted that no members of Muskan’s family have visited her since her arrest. Therefore, Sahil’s maternal grandmother and brother have been able to see him. Muskan is willing to get a legal education, and we are thinking about what our next steps should be. When she is serious about it, we will help her get the assistance she needs.
A few days ago, police submitted a 1,000-page chargesheet, stating that Rajput was killed by her partner and her agent following their conspiracy, and his body was later found sealed in a drum at her Meerut residence.
