Mayawati claimed the Muslim community did not support her party even though it had substantial representation on the list of candidates, a day after the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was unable to secure an electoral victory in the Lok Sabha. She claimed that her party was incomprehensible to the community and that she would only give them a chance in elections after giving it “a lot of thought.”.

The BSP had previously lost all of its seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The party was unable to open its account in 2014. They participated in the 2019 elections in coalition with the Samajwadi Party, which helped them win ten seats.

In a statement, Mayawati stated that her party would carry out a thorough investigation to determine the cause of its poor performance in Uttar Pradesh. She expressed her unhappiness at not receiving the backing of the Muslim community, claiming that they couldn’t comprehend her given that they seemed to have voted for the India bloc.

“Despite having adequate representation in previous elections and the current Lok Sabha general elections, the Muslim community, which constitutes a significant portion of the Bahujan Samaj Party, is unable to comprehend the BSP.”Thus, in this case, the party will give them a chance in the elections after careful consideration to prevent the party from suffering a major setback like it did this time,” Mayawati reportedly stated.

The Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, broke through the BJP’s dominance by winning 37 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, the former ally of Mayawati. The Congress, which sided with the India group, secured six Lok Sabha seats, including Amethi and Rae Bareli. After winning both of the previous general elections with overwhelming margins, the Bharatiya Janata Party was able to secure only 33 seats. Only 240 seats were gained by the party nationwide.

The BJP was ultimately 32 seats short of a simple majority. 2019 saw them win 303 seats. The Congress and the Samajwadi Party have pushed Mayawati to join the India alliance prior to the elections. That being said, she turned down their advances.
