Lucknow: Mayawati, the BSP chief, emphasized that whether at the central or state level, both governments are not adequately focusing on fundamental issues like inflation, poverty, unemployment, and backwardness. In her New Year message on Monday, she conveyed greetings to the citizens and underscored that ensuring guaranteed employment is crucial for earning a dignified livelihood. She criticized the government for engaging in narrow political self-interest, hindering genuine national welfare. Mayawati urged people to be serious about these issues in the election year; otherwise, BJP’s policies of appeasement and their truncated nationalism will render the reservations of the country’s majority ineffective.

Mayawati asserted that the regressive impact of Congress and now BJP’s casteist, arrogant, and non-inclusive governments has hindered the progress of the poor. She advocated for a BSP government that is inclusive and welfare-oriented. Mayawati highlighted the importance of putting money in people’s pockets for expenses, questioning the feasibility of India’s development without addressing this basic need. She questioned the possibility of developing India without addressing the plight of the unemployed. Mayawati emphasized the need for a BSP government to promote inclusive development and effectively address the flaws in caste-based census efforts.

Addressing law and order concerns in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati asserted that BSP governments have a better record in crime control, law enforcement, and public welfare compared to other parties. She pointed out the disparity between the claims of other governments and the actual impact felt by the people.

She wished everyone in India and around the world a prosperous New Year, hoping that the year 2024 brings happiness, peace, security, and success to all. In conclusion, she urged people to be cautious in the election year, emphasizing the need for a government that genuinely works for the welfare of all sections of society.
