Maha Kumbh 2025: With the beginning of the year 2025, the countdown for the country’s biggest religious event Maha Kumbh to be held in Prayagraj has also started. Maha Kumbh is going to start from January 13 and the grand procession of various akhadas has also started.

After the sadhus and saints camped in the pilgrimage Prayagraj, the Sangam city of faith is at its spiritual peak. Along with this, the arrangement of food, bhandara etc. has also started for the saints as well as the devotees.

Many unique arrangements are being seen with the organization of bhandara in the akhadas. The servants serving food to the people sitting in the row in the camp of the akhada will be seen calling out such names of food with a bucket in their hands which you may have never heard before.

In these bhandaras, dish names like Puri Ram, Daal Ram or Lanka Ram can be heard. Words like Pani Ram or Patal Meva for water are very unique. In Maha Kumbh, dishes with these unique names are being served to thousands and lakhs of people. That too absolutely free of cost. Here daal, rice and water have been changed and have become Ram-filled. The interesting thing is that onion, which is banned in the kitchens of saints due to being Tamasik, is also called ‘Laddu Ram’ here. Similarly, chilli is called Lanka. Experts say that this tradition has been going on for years.

Talking on this subject, Datta Giri Naga Baba Aawahan Akhara said, “Whatever we make in Annapurna Mata’s kitchen, we first offer it to God. That prasad is in the name of God, so we add God’s name to it. By doing this, everything becomes Amrit. This is a part of Hindustan and Sanatan culture and our Guru has taught us this. This tradition has been there among saints since ancient times. Water is also called Patal Meva. This tradition is from the time of Adi Guru Shankaracharya.”

At the same time, Mahant Akash Giri Naga Baba Aawahan Akhara said, “The more God’s name is taken in food, the more enjoyable it becomes. Food is first offered to God and then God’s name is taken in it. This tradition has been going on since the time of Shankaracharya.” In this way, not only are the names of food items and dishes unique here, the food here is also not called ordinary food. It is called ‘Bhog Prasad’ or Bhojan Prasad. Bhog Prasad means food offered to the gods and goddesses which becomes Prasad after the offering. In the camps of saints, offerings are made to the deities and the same offering is mixed in the prepared food, after which the food becomes ‘Bhog Prasad’.
