Prayagraj: The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in the state in the next 48 hours. According to the department, heavy rain is expected in more than 20 districts. In view of the warning issued by the Meteorological Department, holidays have been declared in schools from class 1 to 8 in Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Bahraich and other districts.
“Well Marked Low-Pressure Area over northeast Madhya Pradesh & adjoining southwest Uttar Pradesh The depression over northeast Madhya Pradesh moved west-northwestwards and weakened into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southwest Uttar Pradesh at 0530 hours IST of today, the 18th September 2024. It is likely to move further nearly west-northwestwards across northeast Madhya Pradesh and southwest Uttar Pradesh and gradually weaken into a low pressure area during next 24 hours”, wrote India Meteorological Department on X.
Due to cyclonic storm ‘Yaagi’, heavy rains are expected in the state for two to three days. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many districts on Wednesday. Strong winds will also blow.
According to the information released by the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain in many districts of the state for the next two to three days. These include Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Chitrakoot, Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Amethi, Sultanpur, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Banda, Moradabad, Amroha, Bijnor and Rampur.

The water level of the Saryu River has reached about 58 centimeters above the danger mark. The situation is such that the Saryu River has engulfed the cremation ground.
