An incident that occurred in Uttar Pradesh has raised rage and forced legal action as a pregnant woman has died during surgery at a private hospital in Shahpur Jot (under Kotwali Dehat police station area). The incident took place at Nandini Hospital, which had allegedly not been registered properly or authorised. The issue was also reported to the CMO.

Manna Devi, who died, was admitted to the hospital by her brother Suraj Tiwari, who lives in the district of Shravasti, according to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Sanjay Sharma. The facility also treated her to a surgical procedure, and she died the following day. The family has also accused medical negligence, which contributed to her early demise.

After the complaint, a notice was served to the hospital’s operator, Dr. D.K. Vishwakarma and other medical staff were called, and the hospital’s documentation was produced. Nevertheless, the hospital administration didn’t respond or cooperate with the inquiry.

A surprise inspection by a team from the state health department was conducted on April 3. The reason behind the notoriety of this hospital lies in the fact that government officials arrived, locked the premises, and fled, leaving a lot of questions about the operation going on in this hospital.

After the family complained, the police registered a case against Dr D.K. Vishwakarma, Dr R.K. Singh and Dr Preeti Sharma under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), here pertaining to negligence which led to death.

Sealing the hospital has since been recommended by the CMO. However there is a problem in that the hospital is a residential complex, so it is difficult to seal the premises without the presence of the operator, legally. Authorities are now moved to locate the operator and take further action against this illegal substance.
