Lucknow: Expressing dissatisfaction over negligence in compensating crop losses, Chief Minister Yogi has sternly sought answers from officials in 17 districts. Recently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a review of relief and compensation for crops affected by various calamities. During the review, he expressed displeasure at the carelessness in re-verifying crop losses due to errors, leading to a failure to provide compensation. He directed officials to verify and promptly provide compensation to farmers in such cases.

It’s worth noting that after the verification of crop losses, the state government usually disburses compensation and other relief measures to affected farmers. However, due to technical deficiencies in some cases, the re-verification of certain farmers’ crop losses could not be completed. As a result, some farmers were unable to receive relief and compensation. CM Yogi, expressing sternness, demanded answers from officials and directed them to provide compensation to affected farmers, addressing their grievances immediately.

During a review meeting, it was found that due to errors in data feeding, including issues with Aadhaar, account numbers, and duplications, thousands of farmers affected by calamities in the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23 did not receive compensation. Despite the Chief Minister’s directives, many district officials failed to conduct a re-verification, leaving farmers deprived of assistance funds. CM Yogi emphasized the urgency of re-verifying and facilitating aid to affected farmers.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the failure to conduct surveys of farmers affected by crop losses in several districts hindered the timely disbursement of compensation. He expressed dissatisfaction with the lax attitude of 17 additional district magistrates (ADMs) and Famine Relief (FAR) officials and directed them to take immediate corrective action. Despite the Chief Minister’s displeasure, some district officials in various regions failed to conduct surveys of affected farmers, leading to a delay in providing compensation. In response to this, CM Yogi expressed strong disapproval and instructed officials to expedite the survey process and meet the budgetary demands for relief measures.
