A careless car accident in Noida caused the death of a five-year-old girl, whose BMW was travelling at high speed when it hit a scooter in the vicinity of Child PGI Hospital in Sector 30, in the early morning of Sunday. According to police, it happened around 12.20 am when Gul Mohammad, a resident of Sector 45, was on his way home after dropping his five-year-old daughter Ayat at the hospital and a relative, Raja.
Investigators allege that the family had gone to the hospital because of Ayat’s poor health condition. They were going home after visiting the doctors when the BMW registered at Haryana rammed the Honda Activa scooter in which they were riding behind near Gate Number 3 of the hospital. The accident was outrageous to the extent that Ayat was killed instantly, Gul Mohammad and Raja were severely injured and taken to a nearby hospital to attend to them.
According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police Praveen Singh, the BMW, which was possibly driven by a 22-year-old student, fled the scene after the crash. But the police could track down the vehicle by its registration number, and two occupants, namely, Yash Sharma of Sector 37 and Abhishek Rawat of Sector 70, were caught. Policemen proved that Yash Sharma was driving at the moment when the accident occurred.
A case has been registered in Sector 20 police station under Section 281 (rash driving), 125 (endangering life), and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The car that was used in the matter has already been impounded, and additional investigations are being made to find out what actually caused the accidents, whether it was over-speeding or alcohol, as the case may be.
The tragic accident has brought into question the issue of careless driving in the location, and to address this case, there has been an insistence that traffic specifications should be strongly implemented in order to avoid such accidents in future.
