The construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, which was to be completed by June 2025, has been further delayed, and the new expected date of completion is by September 2025, as per a report of a news agency.
The delay was attributed to a shortage of workforce in construction sites, according to the construction committee chairman, Nripendra Misra. At the moment, the temple project’s labour shortage is 200, and this has become a big setback. Further, some stones installed on the first floor of the temple have been seen as ‘weak and thin’ by the committee, and therefore, the committee has resolved that those stones must be replaced.
Misra pointed out that putting new stones in place of these will not only be much more powerful and resistant but also help strengthen the structure in the long run. As for the supplies, about 8.5 lakh cubic feet of red ‘Bansi Paharpur’ stones have been supplied for the perimeter wall to be built around the temple. However, the limited number of workers has hampered the construction of the wall and other corollary structures in question.
In a recent review meeting, the construction committee also evaluated the constructional progress of other aspects of the temple complex, such as the auditorium, boundary walls and the path of circumambulation. In addition to this, the temple is still awaiting different statues such as the statues of Lord Ram’s court room and six temples around the room are also being made in Jaipur. These statues will be installed in the city by December and are equally expected to be taken to Ayodhya as well. Second, there are two statues of Ram Lalla already sanctioned by the temple trust: one statue will be placed at a highly visible location in the temple area.
However, due to these complications, the construction committee has vowed to have the Ram temple constructed in the right manner and to completion.
