Lucknow: The Jal Jeevan Mission in Uttar Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone by providing clean water to 75% of rural households through tap connections. The state has been included in the list of states with 75% or more tap connections, as per the ratings by the Government of India on Wednesday.
Several central and state ministers congratulated Uttar Pradesh for this achievement, considering it a major success in a large state like UP. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of the residents of the state for the Jal Jeevan Mission. He urged his counterparts to expedite the process of connecting the remaining villages with tap connections.
Central Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat praised UP for this significant accomplishment. State Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh conveyed his best wishes. The mission aims to provide clean water to 26,348,443 families in Uttar Pradesh. As of Wednesday, 19,790,921 households have been provided tap connections, achieving 75.11% of the set target.
Yogi Adityanath emphasized the need to swiftly connect the remaining households with tap connections. He urged officials to work towards accomplishing the mission’s objectives at the earliest. Central Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat acknowledged UP’s achievement as a notable milestone in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The State Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh extended his congratulations, highlighting the positive impact on approximately 118,745,526 rural residents who have benefited from the mission. Uttar Pradesh’s dedication to ensuring access to clean water reflects a concerted effort towards improving the quality of life in rural areas, aligning with the broader goals of water conservation and sanitation. The state’s commitment to achieving the mission’s objectives is evident, with substantial progress already made in providing tap connections to a significant portion of rural households.
