Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday gave a touching tribute to the martyred police personnel in the state, reassuring that the state would take care of the families of its martyred personnel. The event was attended at the reserve police lines memorial, which coincided with the police Commemoration Day, and the solemn wreath-laying ceremony was accompanied by patriotic music of the police band.
Speaking to the audience, Adityanath said that he respected all the police officers who have sacrificed their lives to serve the country. “We are here today to honour all martyred police officers of the country who lost their lives in serving the country and showed impeccable service to duty,” he said. He remarked that three courageous police men of Uttar Pradesh had sacrificed their lives in the last year, and he gave his very sincere condolences to the families.
The Chief Minister underscored that the state government has never lacked in the support of the families of the fallen officers and will never do so. He pointed out that financial aid of 30.70 crore has been given to the dependents of 96 police officers who died in the line of duty. This entails the state police, Central Armed Police Forces, as well as paramilitary officers originally based in Uttar Pradesh and who serve throughout the nation.
Adityanath also praised the Uttar Pradesh Police for its undying commitment and profession even at the worst, which cannot be overcome. He was referring more particularly to the recent Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, in which the central and other security forces, together with the UP Police, showed unprecedented levels of devotion and discipline, which resulted in keeping people safe, as well as in upholding law and order with remarkable effectiveness.
Director General of police Rajeev Krishna also spoke of the incident, saying that Inspector Sunil Kumar of STF, Chief Constable Durgesh Kumar Singh of Jaunpur Police, were sacrificed.
