Mumbai: A tragic fire erupted in a 7-story building located in Goregaon, Mumbai, leading to the loss of seven lives and leaving over 40 people injured. This incident took place at the Jay Bhavani building in the Goregaon West’s Azad Nagar area, starting around 3 a.m., according to the confirmation by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Prompt medical attention was provided as the injured individuals were quickly transported to two hospitals in Mumbai, HBT Hospital and Cooper Hospital.
Among the victims, it is heartbreaking to note that two were minors. Out of the 40 injured individuals, there were 12 males and 28 females, including one minor.
In expressing condolences, Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, conveyed his sympathies: “I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the fire incident at #Goregaon, Mumbai. We are coordinating with BMC & Mumbai Police officials. Extending all assistance. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones. I wish a recovery for those who are injured.”
The fire extensively damaged parts of the building, including shops, scrap materials, cars, and other vehicles parked on the ground floor. This unfortunate event is a reminder of how crucial it is to have fire safety measures in place and to be prepared for emergencies in cities. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire and are working diligently to offer assistance and support to the families and individuals affected.
