Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu BJP President and former IPS officer, Mr. K Annamalai, introduced the party’s manifesto in Coimbatore, where he is trying to win the elections. At the press conference, Annamalai was accompanied by BJP Mahila Morcha, National President, EU Coimbatore South legislator, Vanathi Srinivasan, etc. The manifestos involve several high-reaching goals, which may be difficult to achieve in a day-to-day office environment.
During a press conference, Annamalai announced the party’s commitment to fulfill “100 assurances in 500 days.” He expressed his determination to elevate Coimbatore to international prominence with the support of the people.
Key promises in the manifesto include:
- Establishment of an IIM
- Setting up units of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the city
- Introduction of round-the-clock mobile food vans named after former Tamil Nadu CM K Kamaraj
- Upgradation of the existing airport to an international terminal
- Establishment of a cancer treatment center
- Setting up of Navodaya schools
- Addressing issues related to the Noyyal and Kousika rivers
At the same time, police filed a case against Annamalai and his party men, charging them with a violation of campaign timing; that is, a political party cannot exceed the election time during a day. Workers and their DMK Guy went too far by hindering the campaign of the Bharatiya Janata Party outside the time set by the Election Commission, which finally ended up with a fight in Avarampalayam. An MK member had filed an official complaint for which four BJP leaders were in trouble with a summons taken against each under various sections of the IPC.
The discovery of oil in the area certainly amounts to the political tensions in the region due to the parties’ preparations ahead of the forthcoming elections. Promising that facilitates Annamalai to company the BJP in the polls of Coimbatore. Nevertheless, the violation or court action case illustrates how leveled-up competing ground is close to the election processes.
