Chamba: Four people died while nine, including two women, were injured in a tragic road accident at Rakh-Bindla-Dhanada road at Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district on Thursday morning when the SUV which they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down the newly Launched Hill. The accident happened in the morning at about 9:00 A.M.; the passengers were in a Tata Sumo vehicle.

Out of the four deceased persons, he said three have been identified as Sarla Devi, wife of Pravesh of Salwan village; Pinky, wife of Bhagat Ram Bagodi village; and Chaman Singh, son of Omkar Singh Pukhred village in the Samra area. Another killed in the tragedy was Mahender Singh, who died on the spot while being rushed to RPGMC, Tanda.

Some immediate locals crossed the scene to check what happened and quickly reported the accident to the administration and the police department. Some shocked eyewitnesses stated that on the occasion of the unfortunate SUV accident, the impact force was so immense that the vehicle was scrapped. People reacted urgently and delicately, helping to move the injured to the Medical College Chamba in private vehicles. Among the injured, four of them were in serious condition but have since been transferred to Tanda Medical College for further treatment.

This was after police received a call of the incident, and a police team was deployed to end the incident. The post-mortem examination reveals that two of the spectators died on the spot, as claimed by the Chamba Superintendant of Police Abhishek Yadav. Some other passengers were mostly injured and admitted at the Medical College, Chamba, in different conditions.

Investigators have not identified the cause of the accident that led to the death of the individual. The police are still investigating how the incident may have occurred possibly due to mechanical failure of the car, poor road conditions, or human error.
