Missing Samosas belonged to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, which has captured much attention now, followed by the CID wing of Shimla Police.
The event has widely been discussed in the hill town and much more over the samosas prepared by the Radisson Hotel in Shimla. Sukhu’s administration had also ordered the hotel to prepare the samosas for a function at the CID branch, which Sukhu was expected to attend.
However, the samosas did not last long because they were stolen soon after arriving at the scene, an event that led to a CID investigation. The creator of the snack, Chef Rajiv Bhardwaj, who works at the Radisson Hotel, said that the hotel prepared it per the order. We had prepared 21 samosas for the CID branch since they were for the Chief Minister. “The order included three packs, each pack containing a set of samosas and the price of one samosa was ₹350 plus taxes,” he said.
It was to take a political angle when politicians started holding what can be described as political battles over the missing snack, with many parties getting the attention. However, Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha, the Director General of the CID, said that the issue was an internal problem of the CID and it should not be politicized.
“The cases are internal affairs within the CID, and they are not in any way a sign that there is an issue with police employees. That is why the CM does not even eat samosas. We have not served anyone with any legal notice of any sort whatsoever. In our case, the primary goal is to find out what actually has gone wrong and deal with it internally,” Ojha responded.
The police chief also stated that an investigation was underway as to who leaked information about the samosas, and the CID preferred dealing with the case without politics getting in the way. However, regarding the samosas issue, authorities promised that this would be arranged internally within the department, and nobody wanted it to turn into a big scandal.
