On Saturday morning, the Indian Army announced that two terrorists were killed during ‘’Operation GUGALDHAR’’ in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. In its official statement, it said security forces had seized what has been referred to as ‘war-like stores’ from the area and are still searching the area as the operation goes on.
In addressing the event, the army’s statement brought out the fact that the confrontation was a result of information received about impending infiltration. Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian Army initiated an operation in the Gugaldhar area where vigilant troops identified the movement. When the police confronted the suspected terrorists, a shootout commenced, during which the two identified terrorists were ‘eliminated.’
It is stated that on October 4, 2024, troops, following an intelligence input about an infiltration bid, carried out a joint operation along with JK Police at Gugaldhar in Kupwara. Persistent forces were able to firefight during a gun battle with the terrorists,” the army said. It is indeed ongoing in respect of the notion that the security forces are committed to providing security and facilitating a peaceful environment in the area.
Moreover, the army said that another operation near the LoC in Kupwara also averted an infiltration bid. A combined force of the JK Police and individuals from the army are currently engaged in this operation.
Furthermore, two soldiers of the army, on Friday were injured in a landmine blast close to the LoC at Kupwara district. Authorities stated that the explosion occurred when the forces were conducting a regular patrol in the Googaldara area of the Trehgam sector. The affected personnel were swiftly relocated for the purpose of getting treatment.
Such changes show that there exist security threats that prevail in Jammu and Kashmir, in which military operations are critical in dealing with terrorism and infiltration. The army keeps on exercising high alertness and is very keen in protecting both the military and the population.
