The Supreme Court interfered on Tuesday and decreed that 25,000 teaching and non-teaching posts be nullified in West Bengal’s State-run and aided school. Therefore, this reconsideration gave a sigh of relief to many employees whose job security was at risk after the Supreme Court ruling, which was passed on 22nd April and resulted in the removal of 25,753 teachers and staff.
The bench consisting of CJ D Y Chandrachud and J J B Pardiwala, along with Manoj Misra, heard consecutively a set of petitions coming against the high court verdict. Their observation says that if 8,000 teachers in school, those who are under CBI investigation, are finally found guilty, they will pay their salaries as the court has instructed.
The Chief Justice noted the gravity of the issue, and he set before the public that anything in the public sector is a scarce resource that should be enjoyed under trust. He pinpointed the notion that the system had the ability to create an illusion of a “systemic fraud,” which was vital for social mobility, stressing how trusted appointments into the seats of leadership affected public trust in the system frailly.
The bench brought into question the method of the state government for managing data and pointed out the lack of documents and supervision of authority. They rebuked the responsibility of state for keeping electronic databases as well as for being uninformed of behavior of the service provider.
The state government tried to challenge the high court’s order by alleging that it had been applied widely and indiscriminately. The organization has stated evidence through the substitute of the advocate, Astha Sharma, that the immediate firing of the workers will create a massive gap in the educational institutions since the new academic year is rapidly approaching and, therefore, will undermine the students.
