Satara- The Satara district administration in Maharashtra’s Mahabaleshwar went on to demolish the MPG club owned by the family of a minor involved in the fatal Porsche car accident. This led to the collapse of structures and latrines, which the officials blamed for political demagoguery through unauthorized construction. As per the direction shown by Collector Jitendra Dudi, bulldozers were pressed into service to raze the unauthorized construction, and local police and other officials from the revenue department looked on.
Earlier, the state excise department had seized the club bar moreover, and it was only later that such injurious activities were stopped for some time. The local administration also shut down the club last week as the establishment was constructed on the governed land sublet out to the Parsi Gymkhana Club. The club is duly managed by the trust of the parents and grandparents of the particular minor.
The administration officials revealed that the portions of the club accumulated were built unlawfully and were arguably in breach of several provisions of the Land Records Act. When asked about the misuse of the said premises – originally rented for residential use, as well as unauthorized extensions, District Collector Dudi countered:
“After our survey, the administration sealed the MPG club, now we lodged a hearing against it for 12 unauthorised rooms built on this site and the court ordered to demolish them accordingly, on Saturday morning MGM implemented the order and demolished the unauthorised construction,” said Dudi.
The move came after Shinde, the Chief Minister of the Maharashtra state, which included Satara, visited his Dare village in Jawali tehsil of Satara district in late May and ordered the district collector to look into the allegations against the club and act on it immediately. These issues were addressed as part of the investigation: the initial use of the club, its prior ownership, construction permit, bar, spa, and income the minor’s grandfather received. The State Excise Department instituted action that showed that the bar inside the club was operating without the necessary permits.
