In the State Assembly on Wednesday, Energy Minister (Independent Charge) Heeralal Nagar stated that due to technical faults in power lines, there might be disruptions in supplying electricity to farmers for agriculture activities in a six-hour block. Nagar clarified that efforts are being made to compensate farmers in the next block. Responding to supplementary questions during the question hour on Wednesday, the Energy Minister provided additional insights.
Nagar informed the assembly that in the Manoharthana constituency, there are 744 applicants under consideration for agricultural connections, out of which 144 have submitted demand drafts, and the process is underway to issue connections. He emphasized that the remaining 591 applicants in the general category and 9 in the scheduled caste category are yet to have their demand drafts processed.
Of the 591 applications in the general category, the applications were submitted by February 22, 2022. Energy Minister Nagar, in response to the original question posed by MLA Govind Prasad, mentioned that in the Manoharthana constituency, farmers are provided with three-phase electricity for six hours daily, based on the specified block.
He noted that from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023, a total of 882 applications were received for agricultural connections, out of which 127 connections have been issued, and 744 applications are still under consideration. Eleven applications were rejected during this period. Nagar presented a breakdown of the applications based on panchayats on the floor of the house.
Highlighting the pending applications, Nagar explained that there are 578 applicants with submitted demand drafts awaiting connection issuance in the Manoharthana constituency. He specified that among the pending applications, 522 belong to the general category, 39 to the scheduled caste category, and 17 to the special category, with the target of completing the agricultural connections by July 2024. The Energy Minister assured the assembly that the government is actively working to resolve these issues and streamline the process for the benefit of farmers in the region.
