Jodhpur: On Friday, the Rajasthan High Court quashed the selection list issued by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) for the 2019 veterinary officer recruitment. This judgment of the court is specifically restricted to the candidates who did not attend the final-year examination of the B.V.Sc. Course and/or did not fulfill the form-filling procedure by November 24, 2019, the date of the application.
The case stems from a 2019 advertisement for 900 veterinary officer posts which also clearly mentioned that only candidates pursuing the final year of B.V.Sc. Course or those who appeared in the final year of the B.V.Sc. course was eligible. Additionally, there were documents that had to be provided before the interview: certificates of educational attainment.
The two groups of petitioners also expressed their concern over the manner in which the House of Representatives members were chosen. According to Group ‘A’ petitioners, the RPSC has listed candidates who enrolled in the final year but did not sit for the final examination or who had not submitted examination forms before the stipulated due date. In his pleadings, the Group ‘B’ claimants raised concerns that they might be locked out of the selection list. Some of the petitioners also objected to their exclusion from the list on the basis of the claim that they had completed the final year examination by the time of the interview therefore meeting the requirement as stipulated in the advertisement.
Vikas Baliya Ms, Senior counsel, and Hanuman Singh Choudhary as a counsel, represented the petitioners of Group ‘A,’ and advocate general Rajendra Prasad represented Rajasthan.
While delivering his verdict as justice of the single bench for Group ‘A’ petitioners, he stated thus: “The merit list/select list issued by the commission, to the extent of including the candidates who have not appeared in the final year examination of B.V.Sc and or who has not submitted the examination form by 24th November, 2019 for the application form is hereby quashed”.
The court also ordered the commission to develop a new merit list.
