Jaipur: Before her upcoming trip to Rajasthan, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra strongly criticized the BJP-led government. She accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of failing to fulfill his promise made during the Assembly elections to designate the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) as a project. This unkept commitment has sparked anger among the people in the region.

Expressing her frustration in the media, Priyanka Gandhi stated, “During the assembly elections in Rajasthan, the Prime Minister assured that the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) would be recognized as a national project. However, since then, despite proposals from the state government and numerous letters sent by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to the government, these efforts have been consistently met with indifference. The people of Rajasthan are rightfully disappointed by this breach of promise.”

She also declared her intention to address and seek support from residents in Sikrai, Dausa district.

Priyanka Gandhi’s statement comes ahead of her visit to the state where she was scheduled to hold a meeting in Dausa.

Furthermore, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had previously voiced criticism of the government’s handling of the ERCP project.

He claimed that the Prime Minister had made a commitment to support the project during his speeches in Baran district but has now failed to fulfill this promise. The Congress party has taken the responsibility of financing the project on its own, setting aside Rs 25,000 crore for its implementation.
