The state government has suspended with immediate effect a nursing officer found guilty of transfusion of blood of wrong group to patient Sachin Sharma admitted in Sawai Mansingh Hospital and has made three doctors APO.
n this regard, according to the order issued by Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education, Shubhra Singh, the investigation committee constituted by the Principal and Controller, Medical College, Jaipur, in its report, included Dr. S.K., Associate Professor of the Department of Orthopedics. Goyal, in-service resident Dr. Daulatram and Dr. Rishabh Chalana and nursing officer Ashok Kumar Verma have been found guilty.
Dr. S.K. Goyal, Dr. Daulatram and Dr. Rishabh Chalana have been kept awaiting posting orders with immediate effect. Dr. Goyal’s headquarters has been kept at Directorate of Medical Education and Dr. Daulatram and Dr. Rishabh Chalana’s headquarters have been kept at Directorate of Medical and Health Services, Jaipur.
Ashok Kumar Verma, Nursing Officer, Polytrauma Ward of Sawai Mansingh Hospital, has been suspended with immediate effect and his headquarters has been posted as Director (Non-Gazetted), Medical and Health Services, Jaipur.
It is noteworthy that after the matter came to light, Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh had given instructions to form a committee for investigation with immediate effect. The investigation committee has stated in its report that the blood group of patient Sachin Sharma was O positive and he also received 1 unit PRBC and 1 unit FFP of AB positive group.
According to the report, the sample for blood transfusion was taken by Nursing Officer Ashok Kumar Verma. Resident Dr. Rishabh Chalana did not write any notes on the patient’s BHT. Also on call co-Acharya Dr. S.K. Goyal did not pay attention to the blood transfusion parameters before the surgery. Dr. Daulatram, who was on duty at Trauma Blood Bank on the night of 15th February, did not inform the higher authorities about the wrong blood group.
