Raipur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son, Vaibhav Gehlot, in a foreign exchange violation case. The ED is investigating Vaibhav Gehlot for alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999. The agency is probing allegations that Gehlot and his associates remitted foreign currency worth crores of rupees abroad without following proper procedures.

The ED summoned Vaibhav Gehlot to appear before its officials in Jaipur on October 27, 2023. The agency is expected to question him about his financial transactions and the source of the funds that were remitted abroad.

The ED’s investigation into Vaibhav Gehlot is part of a larger crackdown on money laundering and illegal foreign exchange transactions. The agency has been investigating several high-profile individuals and companies in recent months.

The summon by the ED has come as a major blow to the Rajasthan government. The Congress has accused the BJP of using the ED to target its political opponents. The party has said that the allegations against Vaibhav Gehlot are baseless and politically motivated.

The BJP has denied the Congress’ allegations. The party has said that the ED is an independent agency and that the investigation into Vaibhav Gehlot is being conducted in a fair and impartial manner.

The summoning of Gehlot by the ED has also raised concerns about the misuse of central agencies by the ruling party. The opposition has accused the BJP of using the ED and other central agencies to harass and intimidate its political opponents.

The BJP has denied these allegations. The party has said that the central agencies are working independently and that they are not being used to target political opponents.
