Jaipur: A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a majority in Rajasthan over 25 elected Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) gathered for a dinner meeting at the residence of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
The purpose of this gathering is subject to speculation as Raje is believed to be a contender for the Chief Ministerial position. While the MLAs refrained from commenting on this matter the timing of their meeting suggests a show of strength.
Among those at the meeting were Kalicharan Saraf, Babu Singh Rathore, Prem Chand Bairwa, Lalit Meena, Bahadur Koli, Pratap Singh Singhvi, Kalu Lal Meena, Shankar Singh Rawat, Vijay Singh Choudhary and others.
When asked whether all party MLAs would support Raje’s bid for Chief Ministerial post they expressed solidarity with her. It is important to note that Raje currently holds the position of vice president within the party and has previously served as Chief Minister twice.
This dinner meeting holds significance as it indicates a move by Raje to garner support from within her party. The presence of legislators suggests a front in Rajasthan’s political landscape.
However it should be noted that the MLAs remained tight-lipped about their discussions during the gathering. This leaves room for speculation regarding dynamics within the BJP.
These types of gatherings, after an election often provide opportunities for making decisions and planning strategies.
Raje’s political skills and extensive experience make her a prominent figure in the BJP. There is interest in whether she will return to the Chief Ministers position. The support shown by the gathered MLAs is indicative of the continued influence and leadership that Raje holds within the party’s state unit. As the political landscape unfolds in Rajasthan, these developments set the stage for the BJP’s leadership decisions and the role Vasundhara Raje might play in steering the party’s course in the state. The coming days will likely see further political manoeuvres and negotiations as the BJP charts its path forward in Rajasthan.
