The death of a young religious preacher who died under unfamiliar circumstances has created an outrage among the devotees, who are calling out to require an in-depth and objective investigation. The sadhvi was allegedly collapsed when receiving treatment on her ashram due to some fever and was subsequently claimed to have been dead in a private hospital bringing suspicions on the suddenness of her passing.
Police claim that her father and a young man took the 25-year-old to the hospital at approximately 6 pm on Wednesday. She was declared dead by doctors after a medical check-up. ACP Chhavi Sharma reportedly stated that the body is taken to a government hospital to undergo a post-mortem, which will give more insights about the cause of death. More will be done, she said, on the results of the autopsy.
Investigations carried out in the initial stages indicate that the sadhvi had been having fever and had been treated in her ashram. It was alleged that a compounder was summoned to inject her, and she fainted. The police added that the medication was administered internally, yet the conditions that caused her death are still under investigation.
Tensions were meted out when a post came out on the official Instagram account of the sadhvi hours after her death. The message, which some of the followers called a suicide note, talked of an agnipariksha she was refused, and hope of being avenged after her death, causing further doubts and stirring up the anger of the people.
Devotees flocked the ashram shouting slogans and calling on an impartial investigation of what they termed as a sudden and suspect demise.
The case has also rekindled the focus on a complaint that the sadhvi had lodged approximately six months ago in connection with an alleged blackmail by the members of her staff on a doctored video. She had alleged that the accused had asked her to pay 20 lakh and defame her, and the video was later going viral on the internet.
