Stressing the importance of proper city maintenance, Devnani emphasized the need for top rankings in cleanliness surveys. During a meeting with municipal officials, discussions included beautification projects, sanitation, drainage, sewage, waste management, smart city initiatives, street vendors, and canal cleaning. Devnani directed officials to focus on key areas for overall quality of life improvement and efficient urban development.
He specifically addressed the pre-monsoon preparations, urging solutions for sewage overflow issues and regular cleaning of municipal drains. Devnani highlighted the importance of addressing these challenges before the monsoon to prevent waste from overflowing onto the streets. He discouraged officials from relying solely on short-term tenders related to monsoon preparations and emphasized the need for systematic improvements.
The speaker also discussed the proper regulation and support for street vendors, aiming to balance economic activities with organized public spaces. Devnani outlined the need for enforcing standards and regulations, ensuring a healthy and safe urban environment. The meeting covered measures for improving meat shops, adhering to cleanliness standards, and creating a healthier and safer city atmosphere.
Devnani stressed the importance of maintaining ancient urban environments through collaborative efforts in cleanliness and waste management. He suggested using diving machines to remove debris from city lakes and installing proper lighting at Anasagar Chowpati. The speaker urged officials to monitor green buses operated by the municipality, approve or reject online applications for construction permits within stipulated timeframes, and take prompt actions against dilapidated buildings around Dargah.
Additionally, the assembly speaker directed officials to distribute blankets in slum areas and conduct regular checks on hotel and guest house licenses. Devnani identified the collective responsibility of the municipality in creating a city that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The proposed measures aim to create a city that is not only operationally efficient but also visually appealing, contributing to improved cleanliness rankings and enhanced tourism prospects.
