Jaipur: In the Rajasthan Assembly elections for the 16th legislative assembly, 20 women, including former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, have secured victories. Of the 183 women candidates in the elections, 20 emerged victorious, with nine each from the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while two independent women candidates also succeeded. In this election, the Congress fielded 28 women, and the BJP presented 20 women candidates. Additionally, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) also introduced nearly 20 women candidates, but none secured success.
The clear majority-winning party in the elections for the 16th legislative assembly in the state is the BJP. The nine women candidates who won on behalf of the BJP include Vasundhara Raje from Jhalrapatan, Member of Parliament Diya Kumari from Vidhyadhar Nagar, former minister and MLA Anita Bhadel from Ajmer South, MLA Siddhi Kumari from Bikaner East, MLA Kalpana Devi from Ladpura, MLA Deepti Maheshwari from Rajasmand, MLA Shobha Chauhan from Sojat, former MLA Rahi Baghmar, and Nokha Chaudhary Shamim.
Similarly, among the winning Congress candidates, there are Rita Chaudhary from Mandal Assembly constituency, MLA Ramila Khadiya from Kushalgarh, MLA Shobharani Kushwah from Dhaulpur, MLA Indra from Bamanwas, MLA Shimla Nayak from Anoopgarh, Sushila Dudi from Nokha, Anita Jatav from Hindon, and Geeta Barwad from Bhopalgarh.
The representation of women in the legislative assembly is a crucial aspect of democratic governance, and these election results underscore the diversity of political participation in Rajasthan. As these women take on their roles as elected representatives, their contributions are anticipated to enrich the legislative discourse and address diverse issues facing the state.
