Dausa: In a tragic accident that occurred in Rajasthan in the district of Dausa early on Wednesday morning, 11 people from Uttar Pradesh and including seven children, were killed on the spot when a pick-up van collided with a parked truck in the service lane of the highway Manoharpur. Police said that the accident took place at 4 am, taking away the lives of seven children and four women on the spot and injuring eight others, one of whom is in critical condition.
The dead have been named as Mishthi, Babu, Poorvi, Lakshay, Vaishnavi, Mahak, Saloni, Sheela, Priyanka, Seema, and Sonam. The victims were coming back to their village in Etah district after visiting Rajasthan temples Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji. There were 20 occupants in the pickup when it crashed.
President Droupadi Murmu was devastated about the tragedy, as she termed it very tragic, and offered her condolences to the families of the deceased. She also prayed that the injured to recover quickly. Bhajanlal Sharma, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, also mourned the loss of lives.
Dr. Anurag Dhakar of the SMS Hospital in Jaipur, where some of the injured were admitted, confirmed that up to 10 victims, including three women and three children, had been admitted to the hospital. Seema Devi, one of the women, died during treatment, and her husband has been in the Intensive Care Unit. There are three injured patients who received trauma to their heads, and another child was said to be in a critical condition.
In Asrauli village in Etah, where the victims belonged, there has been a blanket of sorrow. In the distressed family, they were visited by District Magistrate Prem Ranjan Singh, senior police officials, who assured the distressed family of every possible help. The corpses will be brought back to Etah. Following the tragedy, the Lodhi Mahasabha has postponed the Virangana Rani Avantibai Lodhi Shobhayatra that was to be held on August 16.
