On the eve of the Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday unveiled the new manifesto of the party, titled as Most Backward Justice Manifesto, which was set to empower the backward communities and give them larger representation in governance and in society. Posting the information on the social media site X, Gandhi slandered the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misinformation and developing diversionary narratives that are contrary to the promise of his party to safeguard the rights of backward, Dalit, tribal and minority communities.
Gandhi highlighted that the Congress party manifesto aims at delivering practical solutions to empower the most underprivileged in society, with education being the key to development. “Education is the best way of development these communities. In my post, I have added special provisions in our manifesto to improve access to education among the backward, Dalit, tribal, and minority groups.”
The manifesto also has a promise to spread the reservation policies to individual institutions. Rahul Gandhi promised to provide reservations to private colleges and universities, and half of the reserved seats in the schools run privately would be given to the children of the SC/ST/OBC/EBC groups. Also, he pledged to stop discriminatory practices in appointments, including the controversial in most cases, which hinder backward communities.
Gandhi emphasised that the manifesto is not only about education, but an enlargement of the struggle towards equality, dignity and social justice. This concerns the complete rights of the lowest, the Dalit, tribal, and minority. “We are interested in fair growth and fair development and elimination of systemic injustices that have kept these communities down for decades,” he added.
In its attempt to empower the marginalised community and establish them as more prominent in the political, social, and educational arenas of the state, the Congress party, through the Most Backwards Justice Manifesto, tries to offer a definite roadmap to the inclusive development of Bihar.
