Gurdaspur: On a suspicious explosion in Raimal village of Gurdaspur district of Punjab, police on Tuesday informed that there were no injuries or casualties.
The Kotli Surat Mallian Police station received reports of a blast sound heard at Sukhdev Singh’s home in Raimal village on Monday night. Officials responded quickly, and a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was sent to investigate the situation, Gurdaspur’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Riputapan Singh Sandhu, told the media.
“Around 8 PM, PS Kotli Surat Mallian received information that a blast sound was heard in the residence of Sukhdev Singh in Raimal village. After being at the residence, police began their investigation,” the DSP said.
The police have carried out their investigation and will take the necessary steps, confirming that no injuries were caused by the alleged bomb. “There has been no damage or harm. An FSL team is there, and an investigation is ongoing. After the investigation, we will take the proper action,” the DSP told to media.
Four gang members were detained by police earlier on February 15 in connection with a different case for their roles in the killing of Overseer Singh, also known as Satinder Singh, also known as Satti.
The Punjab Police Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) also found a .32 bore handgun and six rounds in their hands, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
Those arrested have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, of Selbara village, Bathinda, according to an official statement from the Information and Public Relations Department, Punjab. He has been identified as Lovejeet Sharma, alias Lavi, of village Bhai Rupa in Bathinda; Vinod Kumar, alias Kaushal Sharma, of village Bhai Rupa, Bathinda; and Gagandeep Singh, of Bhagta Bhaika, Bathinda.
According to the information, a famous history-sheeter was Overseer Singh, brother of Rupa of Bathinda, who was shot dead by his neighbor along with his associates in his native village due to personal enmity on February 5 this year at around 4 am.
