Punjab Police conducted raids at various locations, including the warehouse of Gujarat-based pharmaceutical company Galass Pharmaceuticals, in Ahmedabad. The operation resulted in the seizure of more than 14.72 lakh restricted bullets. This crackdown, aimed at combating drug abuse, led to the arrest of 12 suspects from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Tarn Taran, Punjab.
Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and ACP Abhimanyu Rana of Amritsar revealed that multiple teams are tirelessly conducting raids to apprehend other members of the network. A significant quantity of prohibited bullets and capsules was confiscated in this operation. Two of the apprehended individuals were already incarcerated, and they were taken into custody on production warrants.
The arrested suspects from Punjab were identified as Baljinder Singh, Akash Singh, Surjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh, and Major Singh, all residents of Tarn Taran. Major Singh was previously in confinement at Gurdaspur Jail but operated the entire network through mobile communication. Following his arrest on production warrant, Major Singh confessed to sourcing prohibited drugs from Sachin Kumar in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
Commissioner Bhullar disclosed that upon detaining Sachin, he revealed that his accomplice, Yogesh alias Rinku, currently incarcerated in Mansa Jail, was also orchestrating the supply of restricted drugs from a pharmaceutical company in Gujarat. Subsequently, the police took Rekha and her accomplice Manish, both residents of Delhi, into custody after thorough interrogation of Sachin and Yogesh.
The police, after conducting a detailed investigation, uncovered the modus operandi of the racket. Major Singh, during interrogation, admitted to coordinating the supply chain from jail. The police, following leads from Sachin and Yogesh, raided the company’s premises and discovered a stash of prohibited bullets and capsules.
This successful operation highlights the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies across multiple states to curb the illegal drug trade. The arrested individuals are now facing charges related to the procurement and distribution of banned substances. The police continue their efforts to apprehend other members involved in this illicit network, ensuring a comprehensive crackdown on drug-related activities.
